What is Millet?
Millet is one of the oldest cultivated grains in human history, with archaeological evidence of its cultivation dating back over 4,000 years in East Asia and the Indian subcontinent. It is a small-seeded cereal grain that belongs to the Poaceae family and encompasses several species, including foxtail millet, proso millet, and pearl millet. Millet has been a dietary staple for populations across Africa and Asia for millennia, prized for its resilience in arid growing conditions and its nutritional density.
