Ingredient Millet

Millet has a long tradition in European and Asian herbal systems as a grain that supports healthy hair and nail growth. While modern research is still exploring the mechanisms, millet is known to contain naturally occurring silica, as well as minerals including magnesium, phosphorus, and iron. Our millet seed extract is a 10:1 concentration, meaning 10 parts of raw millet seed produce 1 part of extract, delivering a concentrated nutrient profile in a manageable capsule size.

Our Skin Hair & Nails formula provides 100 mg of 10:1 millet seed extract per serving, equivalent to approximately 1,000 mg of raw millet seed. The extract form allows for concentrated delivery of millet’s beneficial compounds without requiring an impractically large capsule. Alongside 2% naturally occurring silica, the extract provides the full spectrum of nutrients present in the millet seed, preserving the whole-food philosophy of our formulation approach.

Our Skin Hair & Nails formula features four distinct botanical silica sources: bamboo, millet, nettle, and horsetail. Each plant offers a unique nutrient cofactor profile beyond silica — for example, nettle is rich in iron and other minerals, while horsetail contains additional bioactive plant compounds. By combining multiple sources, we provide broader nutritional diversity. The total silica content from all four sources is 77 mg per serving, creating a comprehensive plant-based silica profile.

Millet is naturally gluten-free and is generally well tolerated by those with coeliac conditions or gluten sensitivity. It has been a staple grain in many gluten-free traditional diets around the world. However, as with any grain-derived ingredient, there is a remote possibility of cross-contamination during growing or processing.
