What is Zinc Bisglycinate?

Zinc bisglycinate is a chelated form of zinc in which each zinc ion is bonded (chelated) to two glycine molecules. This chelation process creates a stable ring structure that mimics the way zinc naturally complexes with amino acids during digestion. The zinc bisglycinate molecule is electrically neutral, which allows it to be taken up through amino acid transport pathways in the intestine rather than through the zinc-specific transport proteins.

The chelation of minerals to amino acids is a well-established form used in food supplements. Zinc oxide and zinc sulfate are other common zinc forms used in supplementation. Nutri-Leaf Skin Hair & Nails provides zinc as zinc bisglycinate — 100% NRV per capsule — alongside biotin, copper and four complementary plant extracts.

  • contributes to normal DNA synthesis
  • contributes to normal acid-base metabolism
  • contributes to normal carbohydrate metabolism
  • contributes to normal cognitive function
  • contributes to normal fertility and reproduction
  • contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism
  • contributes to normal metabolism of fatty acids
  • contributes to normal metabolism of vitamin A
  • contributes to normal protein synthesis
  • contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
  • contributes to the maintenance of normal bones

Why we use Zinc Bisglycinate in Nutri-Leaf formulas

Nutri-Leaf selects zinc forms based on bioavailability and tolerability. Zinc bisglycinate is a chelated form of zinc in which each zinc ion is bonded to two glycine molecules — a structure that supports its stability as an ingredient. This form is particularly gentle on the digestive system while providing all the recognised benefits of zinc. Our Skin Hair & Nails formula includes zinc (as zinc bisglycinate) alongside biotin, copper, and four active plant extracts in a comprehensive once-daily capsule.

Products containing Zinc Bisglycinate

The Nutri-Leaf product featuring zinc bisglycinate is Skin Hair & Nails, where the chelated zinc form provides excellent bioavailability alongside copper, biotin, and four plant extracts for comprehensive hair, skin, and nail support. Immune Complex also provides zinc (as zinc gluconate) for daily immune and antioxidant support.
